Asparagus seeds for the Argenteuil produces an heirloom variety of asparagus originally from France. Unlike most other Asparagus varieties that do not start producing for at least 3 seasons, the Argenteuil will produce in the second year. The spears in this first harvest will be thinner than in the following years but they are still full of flavour.

When harvesting you should leave a small number of spears in the ground to feed the plant ensuring a fine crop the following season and if you manage your plant well it will keep producing for up to 20-years. Not bad for 1 packet!

The Argenteuil variety gives very good results when blanched whilst still in the ground. This is done by covering the new stalks so that they are hidden from the sun which will produce white stalks and gives a much more delicate flavour. If left to grow 'naturally', the asparagus produces thick, pink/purple spears with an excellent flavor and very tender tips.

SOW: February to April.
QUANTITY: 2-3 seeds per hole in open field, each standard pack contains around 150 seeds.
TRANSPLANT: March-May.
DISTANCE: about 1 m. between rows and 0.2-meter between plants.
HARVEST: April -May
