Herb Italian basil, Napoletano Gigante, have very large, crinkled leaves which are slightly lighter in colour than many other varieties. A very good, strong flavour which is especially good for flavouring dishes and making such things as Pesto and tomato sauce.

SOW: in a pot or seed-bed in March, in rows in the open field from May to August.
QUANTITY: 1 gr. of seed per sq. m. of seedbed; 1 gr. of seed per 10 sq. m. of ground (direct). TRANSPLANT: at the end of May from the seedbed.
DISTANCE: about 30 cm between plants.
HARVEST: May to October (or later under cover).
