Chives are a perennial herb with oval bulbs and grow in very tight clumps. Their green pointed leaves grow to around 15 cm long and have an almost refreshing taste of very mild onions. If left they will grow pink or violet flowers. The new leaves can be chopped to flavour salads and sauces.

SOWING: from February to April directly outdoors or in a seed-bed in Autumn or Spring.
DISTANCE: 15-20 cm. between plants; 20-30 cm. between rows.
QUANTITY: 2 gr. of seed per sq. m. For direct outdoor sowing, 4 gr. of seed per sq. m.
HARVEST: May to October (or later under cover).
