Sow these seeds over the empty areas of your plot for many uses: Keep the empty soil attractive to the eye, deter weeds, attract pollinating wildlife and add nutrients to the soil. Have a productive plot all year!
Phacelia tanacetifolia is a green manure that will feed your soil with many nutrients and is a great friend of the humble bee so will attract these to your area.
The seeds should be sown between April and mid September at a maximum depth of 1cm and will take around 14-days to germinate. The Phacelia will grow quickly and cover the soil. When the frosts arrive the plant will die and it can be used as mulching during the winter months and then dug back into the soil as compost.
This variety is not related to any cultivated plant so there will not be any problems with second generation growing. It likes all types of soil and will flourish is lesser soil as well as healthy ones.
