Peppermint (Mentha piperita) Perennial plant, 50-60 cm. high with a pleasant fragrance. It is prevalently used for the extraction of the essence (menthol or menthone) and for the production of syrups, liqueurs, candies, toothpastes and other products. The leaves may be used for herb teas which are stimulants of digestion or to aromatize some dishes. The plant prefers cool, deep, loose and well-fertilized soil.
SOW: March-April in pots or in a seedbed. QUANTITY: 0,5 gr. of seed per sq. m. of seedbed. TRANSPLANT: When the plants are well-developed. DISTANCE: 30 cm between plants; 30 cm between rows. HARVEST: July to September or later under cover. |
