The Spider Flower is an exotic addition to any border, with large palmate leaves and flowerheads like exploding fireworks. ‘Violet Queen’ produces showers of blooms in shades of rich purple red flowering for a long period over Summer - even into Autumn, until the first frosts. The flowers have long, thread-like stamens full of nectar, releasing a sweet musky scent, attractive to bees and butterflies. Fast-growing and trouble-free, the plant needs a good deal of elbow room to reach full potential, and its bushy habit makes it useful for filling a gap in the border, or as a screening plant. Grown with more traditional plants in a border, it is bound to catch the eye.
