The courgette seeds for the Striato d'Italia produce a classic looking courgette. Dark green skin with lighter green stripes, smooth to the touch and extreamly productive. This variety grows a bushy plant with medium sized fruits and can produce an impressive 5-6kg of fruit per plant.

As with many courgette varieties it likes a rich soil that is well draining but likes watering as the fruits develop. It does not like to sit in wet soil but likes to be watered on a daily basis from July onwards. The seed should be sown direct after the last frost has passed so from April until July. If planting under cover then you can start as early as March.

Once the seeds start to germinate they should be thinned allowing the strongest plant to grow. This they will do if planted where they receive sunshine and water. Harvesting from June, when the fruits are small and sweet, until October when you will certainly be getting your value for money as the fruits will be large!

SOW: April-July direct to plot with 3-4 seeds per hole (1 month earlier if planting under cover).
QUANTITY: Each packet contains between 40 - 45 seeds
GERMINATION: 4-6 weeks after sowing thin the seedlings leaving 1 strong plant per hole
DISTANCE: 1-meter between rows and 0.6-meter between plants.
HARVESTING: June - October.
