Online Catalogue | Garden Seeds & Fertilizer | Vegetable and Fruit | Beans - Broad Bean Seeds
Broad Beans Pick them when they are ready! You can't say much more than that. Broad Beans will grow in almost any soil type however if planting in late spring then they do normally prefer lighter, well draining soil. We normally like to sow during the late autumn and into the early winter which will give a nice early crop. Another benefit of an Autumn/Winter sowing is a natural protection against pests. When the seeds are germinating during the Spring months then they can suffer from black-fly attack.
Keep the soil well weeded, a hoe is ideal for getting between the rows. When the pods start to form give them plenty of water.
